The construction of Unite d’Habitation, Berlin, Germany (circa 1957).
Le Corbusier was invited to design a structure for the Interbau site and he responded with his Unite d’Habitation design. Due to the scale of the building, an alternative site was found and the 17 storey block was constructed. It contains 627 flats.
When completed it faced harsh criticism for the high number of flats within and the quality of finish.
